ABOUT VALDIVIA

Founded in 1552, the City of Valdivia is one of the most important in Chile (http://chile.travel/en/about-chile/) and, as a result of its size and significance, it is a favorite destination for travelers. Placed 842 kilometers southwards from the City of Santiago, the rivers and turrets feature prominently in the impressive landscape of Valdivia. It’s the oldest city at these southerly latitudes anywhere in the world, surrounded by verdant setting of meadows and woodlands.

The traits of this city are established by the whims of the Calle Calle River, whose characters were taken advantage of by German communities during the establishment of this beautiful city. This was achieved by a distinctive kind of architecture and local traditions. Thriving along with industry and commerce, Valdivia’s tourism has increased remarkably in the last few years, Valdivia features diverse natural and cultural attractions to lure visitors year round.

Valdivia can be reached by plane from Santiago International Airport ( http://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/) with LAN(https://www.latam.com) and SKY airlines (http://skyairline.com/). Additionally, it can be reached by bus, with several bus companies travelling to Valdivia from all mayor cities (e.g. www.turbus.clwww.busescruzdelsur.clwww.jac.cl).

ENTERING CHILE

To enter Chile, you have to present your identification documents, like your ID card or passport. And, depending on your country of origin, a stamped visa.

Citizens from South America, the European Union, USA, Canada and Australia do not need tourist visas. However, some countries must pay a tax in cash (reciprocity tax) upon arriving at the airport in Chile.

Also, remember that if you’re bringing animal or vegetable products, upon entering you must declare them to the Agriculture and Livestock Service (Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero – SAG); in this way, you’ll be contributing to protecting the varied flora and fauna of the country.
